KATHMANDU, Dec 29: A total of 7,817,349 passengers used Tribhuvan International Airport (TIA) during the 11 months 2025, according to official figures from the Civil Aviation Authority of Nepal (CAAN).
Among them, 4,098,549 passengers traveled on international flights, while 3,718,800 used domestic air services.
CAAN data show that during this period, 2,094,877 passengers departed from Kathmandu to foreign destinations, while 2,003,672 passengers arrived in Nepal.
On the domestic front, 1,936,426 passengers departed from Kathmandu, while 1,782,374 passengers arrived from other domestic airports within the review period.

Up to November, a total of 14,125 international flights landed at Tribhuvan Airport, while 14,126 international departures were recorded.
Similarly, in the domestic sector, 42,264 aircraft landed in Kathmandu, and 42,278 domestic flights departed, according to CAAN statistics.
In terms of cargo movement, the airport handled a total of 22,510,202 kilograms of international cargo, reaffirming Tribhuvan Airport’s role as one of the country’s main air trade hubs. On the domestic side, 3,030,808 kilograms of cargo were transported through the airport.
TIA recorded a record-high passenger flow in 2024, managing a total of 9,423,725 passengers that year. In 2023, the airport had handled 8,654,000 passengers, according to CAAN data.
CAAN states that the airport’s annual handling capacity is approximately 8 million passengers, but it is currently operating beyond that limit.
As passenger traffic remains concentrated in Kathmandu, international flight activity at the country’s other two international airports remains low. Gautam Buddha International Airport in Bhairahawa served only 13,432 international passengers over the 11 months. Of these, 7,107 were departures, and 6,325 were arrivals.
At the domestic level, Gautam Buddha International Airport recorded 341,463 arrivals and 333,871 departures.
In the case of Pokhara Regional International Airport, the airport served a total of 798,791 passengers in 11 months, including 383,757 arrivals and 415,034 departures for both domestic and international flights.
