MORANG, July 10: Police have arrested three people from Belbari of Morang in possession of brown sugar (an adulterated form of heroin). According to the police office of Biratnagar in Province 1, police nabbed two females and one male with the illegal drug on Thursday.
According to Navin Raj Rai, spokesperson and Deputy Superintendent of Police, the police caught 46-year-old Buddhiman Tamang of Belbari Municipality-1, and two 18-year-old females - Jiya Rai and Sapana Tamang of Hile, Dhankuta - from Buddhiman’s house.
Three caught with brown sugar
The police found 13 grams 540 milligrams of brown sugar hidden inside a storage room, Rai said. The police also found various used sim cards, eight sets of mobile phones, cash and a digital machine used to weigh the brown sugar, he added.
A preliminary investigation has revealed that Buddhiman had been dealing drugs and brown sugars for six years from his house after purchasing them from different parts of India. According to the police, the two females were drug users who would come to Belbari to consume the drug.
The police have extended the deadline on Friday to start the investigation into the case under the Narcotics Control Act.
