BIRGUNJ, July 31: Police have arrested three people on the charges of murder and looting of 27-year-old Gyanu Phakrin, a resident of Lanbandi Municipality-1. Among the four involved in the alleged crime are 25-year-old Rahul Maharjhan and 27-year-old Dip Lama Tamang of Birgunj Metropolitan City-7, 27-year-old Dhananjay Rajak from Bara district and Ravi Shroff of Mahottari district. Police have managed to catch three of them so far.
According to reports, the four had planned to loot Rahul Maharjan’s old friend Gyanu Phakrin and had invited him to Birgunj. Pakhrin had arrived with his two other friends at Birgunj on July 28.
Gyanu’s two friends had left for Kathmandu at 9:30AM on July 29. Afterward, Phakrin was tricked into buying some beer and was taken to a deserted area in Ram tole, where he was killed and looted. They had taken Pakhrin’s gold chain, gold watch, and Rs 10,000.
According to police, one of the culprits Ravi Shroff who had kept the looted items has managed to run away for now. The other three were arrested while on the run and have been taken into custody by the police team who were deployed near the scene of the crime. Upon further investigation, police have recovered a piece of the gold chain from Dip Lama who had hidden it near a drainage.
The district court of Parsa found them guilty of the crime on July 30 and extended the investigation for seven days. Likewise, police are in search of Ravi Shroff who is on the run with the looted items.
