KATHMANDU, April 29: The second day of the Nepal Investment Summit 2024, which commenced in Kathmandu from Sunday, will feature discussions on various topics.


Finance Minister Barsha Man Pun will engage with representatives of development partners, while the initial session will focus on the 'Possibility of renewable energy in Nepal'. Key speakers in this session include Minister for Energy, Water Resources and Irrigation Shakti Bahadur Basnet, Secretary of the Ministry of Industry, Commerce and Supplies Dinesh Kumar Ghimire, Managing Director of Nepal Electricity Authority Kulman Ghising, and Chairman of Independent Power Producers Association (IPPAN) Ganesh Karki.

Other sessions include Nepal Rastra Bank Governor Maha Prasad Adhikari addressing the 'Innovative Economic Scenario', Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Narayan Kaji Shrestha discussing 'Investment Opportunities in Green and Climate Adaptation Businesses in Nepal', and Deputy Prime Minister and Minister for Physical Infrastructure and Transport Raghubir Mahaseth focusing on 'Transport Upstream Reform'. Notable speakers also include National Planning Commission member Prof Dr Sangita Singh, Vice Chancellor of Kathmandu University Prof Dr Bhola Thapa, Professor Dr Suresh Raj Acharya, and others.


A parallel debate session is scheduled alongside the conference. The closing session will feature remarks from chairman of the ruling CPN-UML and former Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli, with Finance Minister Pun delivering the closing speech.


The first day of the conference, held on Sunday, witnessed the signing of significant projects and announcements of investments. Thematic discussion sessions included topics such as 'Investment opportunities in Nepal', 'Success stories of investment in Nepal', and 'Presentation of projects for letters of intent’.
