On its sixth day, the Kathmandu International Theatre Festival 2010, being organized at Gurukul, Old Baneshwor is still going strong. Today’s play is by Artizani, the group from Slovenia.

The Wizards of Oz

5:00 pm, Rimal Theatre, Gurukul[break]

Presented by Artizani

Director: Irena Rajh Kunaver

This well-known tale has been used to make a dynamic show, without text, full of movement that can be understood in two ways: as object animation which refers to puppet theatre, and as expressing different moods and feelings through the watcher’s body which refers to circus and physical theatre.

Throughout the show, the group -- Artizani will be considering the relation between good and evil, seeking the balance between material and spiritual worlds, examining personal values, and pondering on the timeless observation that everybody is master of his own destiny. But the help of a friend is always welcome.

The Artizani group which consists of young actors, puppeteers and dancers, will come together to enthrall you with The Wizards of Oz.
