Pragya- Lalabal 2nd National Solo Theatre Festival for Children-2075 kicked off at Shilpee Theatre, Battisputali on Wednesday. Eminent literary personal Abhi Subedi—as chief guest inaugurated the festival.
The inaugural ceremony commenced with traditional Kumari Dance from the organizer—Kathmandu Pragya Kunja School. Meanwhile, 16 theatre artists expanding theater studies in different schools were felicitated by “Theatre Education Samman – 2075” during the ceremony.
Sunita Poudel, the principal of Organizer School highlighted the motive behind this festival and the importance of theater education in school. Similarly, Subedi expressed his valuable thoughts about theatre studies, his efforts to expand it from theatres to schools and congratulated the school for such an endeavor of the school to collaborate with different schools of the country and link it with the international arena.
Laxman Wins First National Solo Theatre Competition
The opening day witnessed 13 powers packed solo dramas—started with the -competent performance from Trisha Bhatta of Kathmandu Pragya Kunja School. Participant student raised issues including rape and murder case of Nirmala, corruption to many social issues and humor.
Organized by in support of School Theatre Nepal, the festival is conceptualized and directed by Tanka Chaulagain. 49 students from 41 schools are competing in this event.
The judge duo – eminent artists Harihar Sharma and Deshbhakta Khanal will be evaluating all the 49 participants and the selected best 5 solo performers will win a trophy, cash prize and a chance to participate in Solo Theater Festival being organized in Colombo, Sri Lanka with the collaboration of Red Apple Theater Gathering of Sri Lanka.
