The gig is part of the four-day long International Music Week, hosted by Alliance Française Kathmandu (AFK) and Tuborg and will continue at AFK premises 5 PM onwards on June 22. [break]
Five bands will also compete in the AFK contest and the audience will also be able to take part in the event as per AFK’s press release.
The winning band will get the opportunity to open for the invitee only concert by French band NoJazz on June 28 at Nepal Academy Hall and to record one song in a professional studio.
On Saturday, June 23, a classical music session is in store 3 PM onwards at Yala Maya Kendra, Patan Dhoka and will headline Sangeet Prabin Dhana Bahadur Gopali, Shashtriya Group, Shree K.C. and group and Nagendra Rai and group.
The weekend also features Musical Night in several pubs 7 PM onwards in Kathmandu, Dharan and Pokhara as part of the fest.
The Fete de la Musique or the International Music Day was launched on June 21, 1982 at the initiative of Jack Lang, the then French Minister of Culture, and has since then crossed beyond the French borders.
