I see a stranger
Yet somehow
I think I know her
When I look at her
I see her vivacity[break]
That triggers my instinct
And I know its familiar
I’ve been looking at her
Noticing the bridge that’s between us
She was once ‘me’
My dreams were once hers
What brought such disparity
I wonder...
I wonder if it was love
Love that couldn’t be silenced
Love that couldn’t be lost
Love that couldn’t be denied
Loved that couldn’t be ripped off
For she was once ‘me’
My dreams were once hers
But when the devious game was played
She fought against all odds
And her love for me
And my love to be
What I’ve been aspiring
Had changed her
In the cosmic wheel
We are facing away
Yet we belong together
It was one of those classes, uninteresting and dull, when Alisha finally decided to write the words buzzing in her head. She was a seventh grader then. Now, she’s sixteen, one of the winners of QC Awards 2010: The Poetry Slam and poetry has become her passion. What inspires her to write, she says, are these wild thoughts and ideas which may sound out of the world but writing poems has helped her express them vividly. And eventually they start making perfect sense! says this student at Rato Bangala School, currently doing A levels.
