The restaurant flaunts a large chimney as a fireplace placed in the main interior which is lit every year in the month of November. [break]
This annual tradition of lighting the chimney has been followed since the days of Boris Lissanevitch, the White Russian hotelier who started the restaurant some 38 years ago.
This ceremony also “signifies that the winter has begun in Kathmandu,” informed Surendra C Thakuri, Associate Director of Sales and Marketing at the five-star property.

Lighting of the chimney at the hotel is a tribute to Boris and celebrates the chilly season with original recipes Boris bought along to Kathmandu.
Smoked Bekti, Chicken a la Kiev, Grilled Chicken a la Boris, and the flame-baked Alaska Sagarmatha are some of the delicacies the restaurant will serve all throughout the winter.
Be there to enjoy the interior in the warm glow of The Chimney and savor authentic delights of the celebrated restaurant.
