KATHMANDU, Oct 21: For all the literature lovers and aspiring writers in Nepal, the wait is finally over. After a successful conclusion of the literature festival in September last year, the third edition of the Ncell Nepal Literature Festival 2013 is all set to commence on Friday, October 25.

Bringing together eight international writers and over 90 Nepali writers and professionals, the four-day long festival will be held at the premises of Nepal Academy in Kamaladi, Kathmandu. [break]

The festival is being organized by The Bookworm Foundation, collective of people with passion for books and writing, with the support of Ncell.

At the press meet organized on Monday at the Everest Hotel, New Baneshwar, Festival Director Ajit Baral informed that the festival will be inaugurated by National Poet Laureate Madhav Prasad Ghimire. Speaking at the press meet, he remarked that the response from the audience in the previous years is what encouraged them to organize the festival at such a large scale. “When we organized the first literature festival in 2011, we never imagined this to pick up so fast,” he exclaimed.

Similarly, Milan Mani Sharma, Expert – Corporate Communication of Ncell, said, “Education has always been Ncell’s top priority for its CSR activities. We’re thrilled to support the literature festival as we believe that literature is an advanced form of education. A country’s progress can be measured in terms of the literary works it produces and the readership that it garners.” He further emphasized on the increasing book culture among Nepali youths and said that literature festivals like these help strengthen the foundation of that culture.

The festival promises to be a one-stop for all literature lovers to participate in panel discussions, poetry recitals and book fair, and even get their books signed by acclaimed national and international writers.

The participating international writers are Shobha De, Prajwal Parajuly, Prakash Iyer, Annie Zaidi, Ravinder Singh, and Abhay K, from India, Ned Beauman from the UK, and Farah Ghuznavi from Bangladesh. The list of Nepali writers and professionals include Prof Dr Abhi Subedi, Anil Chitrakar, Hari Bansha Acharya, Sudheer Sharma, Sharada Sharma, Richa Bhattarai, Rajesh Hamal and Anil Shah among others.
