Thai Airways announces special offers

KATHMANDU, April 10: Thai Airways on Tuesday announced special offers including promotional fare marking its 44th years of successful operation in Nepal.



Speaking at a media briefing in the capital, General Manager of Thai Airways, Nepal, Chantouch Srinilta said 2012 marks a milestone in the history of Thai as they celebrate 44th years of successful operation in Nepal. [break]



The airlines announced free excess baggage for students, businessmen traveling to Australia and China and free hotel service in Bangkok for destinations like Hong Kong. The airlines announced free excess baggage up to 10kg for Nepali students traveling to Australia.



Srinilta said with boarding pass of Thai Airways, incoming passengers can get 10 percent discount for Thai food in renowned Thai restaurants like Ying Yang, Third Eye, Kura Thai and others.



The airlines has offered special promotional fares for Bangkok, Singapore, Australia, Europe and Los Angeles.



Likewise, targeting Nepali travelers Thai airways also unveiled special SOTO (tickets sold outside the country of departure) fare for Japan and special labor fares to Kuala Lumpur.



"Despite many challenges like natural disaster, global economic crisis and cut throat price war in the local market, Thai has always been successful in receiving global recognition for its unique services and stability," said Srinilta.



Speaking at the program officials of Thailand Tourism Authority and Royal Thai Embassy said that the number of Nepali travelers going to Thailand had gone up significantly in recent years. Around 31,000 Nepalis visited Thailand in 2011, out of which 25.5 percent travelled for holiday and 41 percent for seminar.



The officials highlighted that Thailand could also be an ideal destination for wedding as number of Indian travelers getting married in Thailand was remarkable last year because of cultural similarity and affordability.



The airlines has also increased flights in domestic sectors including Chiang Mai, Phuket and Krabi.



Thai also handed over a memorial park situated in Kakani to the local community and is providing fund regularly for its maitenance and development. The officials said that they will be introducing new project within September 2012 for Nepal.



The national carrier of Thailand, Thai Airways came into operation in 1960. At present if offers flights to more than 70 destinations in 34 countries with a fleet of 99 aircraft.
