The House meeting endorsed the motion tabled by Chief Whip of Unified Communist party of Nepal (Maoist) Post Bahadur Bogati at the meeting.
Earlier, the special committee decided to seek an extension of its term. “So far, we have received 69 complaints about non-implementation of the commitments and they have yet to be investigated,” said Balkrishna Khand, coordinator of the committee. “So we decided to seek an extension of the term.”
He said the government did not cooperate with the committee in collecting information on the implementation of the prime minister’s commitments. “We even summoned the chief secretary and home secretary of the government in the committee but could not get details.”
Despite repeated commitments by the prime minister on property return, the Maoists have yet to return the property of hundreds of people. “The land and property of Parliamentary Hearing Special Committee Chairman and Nepali Congress General Secretary KB Gurung, party’s Central Working Committee member Binay Dhwaj Chand and NC Dang district leader Dipak Giri have not been returned yet,” said Khand.
The three-month term of the committee that was formed in January to monitor the implementation of the prime minister’s commitments made before the House expired Sunday.
