KATHMANDU, Dec 5: The government has extended the term of the High Level Education Commission (HLEC) till January 8, next year. The commission's initial term ended on December 2.
According to the Ministry of Education, Science and Technology (MoEST), the cabinet meeting held on November 26 decided to extend HLEC's term till January 8. However, the decision was kept a secret as per the government's policy to withhold information on cabinet decisions for a week.
All seven constitutional commissions remain ineffective
A cabinet meeting held on June 18 had decided to form the 21-member HLEC headed by Minister for Education, Science and Technology, Giriraj Mani Pokhrel. The commission was given four months to submit its report. However, it failed to complete its task within the stipulated time.
