BARA, Dec 26: Ajay Mandal, 12, a seventh-grader at Namuna Lower Secondary School (NLSS) of Kalaiya Sub-metropolitan City-1 died mysteriously on Monday. Jitendra Mandal, the uncle of the deceased, has accused Soni Lal Yadav, a teacher of Nepali at NLSS, of beating his nephew to death.
According to Jitendra, Ajaya had come home shivering after being beaten by Yadav, and had gone to sleep immediately. There was no one in the house during the daytime. In the evening, when the family members came home and woke him up, he was still shivering and vomiting. Jitendra informed Republica that Ajaya died in the course of treatment.
Ajaya's family members have filed a complaint against Yadav at the District Police Office (DPO).
As stated by another teacher of the school, Soni Lal had beaten Ajay lightly after the latter was found spreading rumours about the alleged relationship between a school teacher and a girl of grade 7. He further said that Ajay was sent home after the incident and was also told to bring his parents to the school to discuss the issue.
Meanwhile, Dr Tribhuwan Chand, medical superintendent of Kalaiya Hospital, informed Republica that the vomit of the deceased had a bad odor. Dr Chand said they are yet to ascertain the reason behind Ajay's death.
Demanding stern action against Yadav, Ajay's family members staged a protest, placing his dead body on the road at Kalaiya city center.
However, police are waiting for the postmortem report before taking any action.
