Tariq Aziz guilty of Iraq murders

By No Author
KATHMANDU, March 11: Tariq Aziz, deputy prime minister under deposed Iraq President Saddam Hussein, was jailed for 15 years for his role in the executions of 42 merchants, BBC reported Wednesday.

Aziz had denied any role in the summary trials of the men accused in 1992 of profiteering during economic sanctions in the wake of the first Gulf War.

A number of top government figures signed the death warrants of the flour traders, including Ali Hassan al-Majid, the BBC website said.
