Dear Sadichha,
I am a Hotel Management student currently working at one of the renowned hotels in Nepal. When I was accepted to that hotel, I thought it as an awesome way to collect experiences, learn from seniors and meet lots of people. However, the situation is completely black and white. I need the money and they pay well too but people suck. Bosses are really weird people. They scold every time, even when I am doing right. Sometimes, I want to punch them real bad and quit. But, I won’t have any money if I leave the job. I am so confused. Please guide me.

Having been at both ends of being an employee and an employer, I would have to disagree with your statement here; I don’t think anyone would scold the employee if they have done their job. Hence, I would ask you to talk to your boss clearly. If you see them dissatisfied with your work, sit down with them and discuss ways to improve. This way you would seem like an employee who wants to improve and learn, and everyone likes that spirit. In your professional career, you will face all kind of employers, a boss who will encourage you, a boss who might belittle you, a boss who will be harsh, and a boss who will be kind. But one thing you will do from all of them is that you will learn. So, be tough, don’t give up that easily.

Dear Sadichha,
I am 32, happily married and carrying my second baby. I love my husband and daughter more than anything in the world. The problem is I haven’t been able to tell my husband about my second child. Whenever I am about to tell him, something happens and I am always diverted. I know he will be happy after hearing the news but I just don’t know how to tell him.

How far along are you? I definitely think you should ‘make’ the time to tell him this news, shouldn’t you? Find a good moment to share this news with him, like you mentioned and are assured that he will take it positively and be happy, why deprive him of this happiness for any longer? Don’t think about it too much, share the news.

Dear Sadichha,
Only a month ago, I got clean and came out from rehab. When I was addicted, nobody really cared except my mom. Now I am back and clean, I am just treated differently. Let it be neighbors or the people from the work, I am just hated so much. I just feel like I have no friends. Please tell me what to do.

Firstly, many many congratulations on being clean for a month. I wish you a lot of strength and hope you stick to this decision. Anytime, you feel weak, just remember what you are feeling right now, the kind of behavior and reaction you are facing right now and imagine what your mother faced, the kind of comments people must have passed on her, the kind of judgment she faced by her relatives, people questioning her upbringing and remember to stay strong to never make her feel like that or go through that ever again. The society will behave the way they want to, there will be people who are compassionate and there will be people who enjoy seeing other people fail. Don’t let them get the best of you. Learn to ignore the comments that come from people who aren’t really a big part of your life. People who wish well for you will always be there to support you and help you get through difficult times, like your mom. Learn to value and respect those people and return that favor, the best way that you can. In this case, it is you being clean and not getting back to addiction.

Dear Sadichha,

I have got stress eating and I don’t know how to control it. I used to be approximately 55 kg but now I am a hundred more kilograms than that. The problem started when I joined CA after my +2. I don’t understand anything about accountancy. Due to pressure from my family and relatives, I had to join. The subject is just strange to me. It stresses me and I eat a lot when I am on that condition. I don’t know how to control my stress.

First of all, how are you doing in your CA? Are you making any progress? Do you feel like, that is, what you are going to make a career out of? If yes, then continue doing that. If no, then take a few steps back and reflect really how you see your future. You have to live your life. When you regret at the end of the day, all you will be able to do is blame them, the people due to whom you joined CA but it will be too late. Hence, try to really figure out if this is the path you want to take moving ahead. Secondly, for your stress eating, try and control your mind. Realize that you are not really hungry but just under stress. Talk to this problem about your close friends and family, who are with you, around you most of the time and people who can help stop you. Keep reminders on your phone every hour, with motivational quotes and reminders to de-stress. You can also join the gym to get some regular workout. It will help you stay motivated and focused. Take it one step at a time.
