Prem Bahadur Budhathoki of Tribhuvan Army Club beat Purna Gurung of national team by 6-1 in men's 87 kg final to be selected for the SAG.Central Region's Mohamed Baish won men's 68 kg final defeating James Pradhan of Nepal Police Club by 18-9. Bir Bahadur Mahara of Police defeated Ajay Gurung of Central Region in men's 63 kg final to book a place in the SAG.
Similarly, Sunil Paudel of Eastern Region beat Ranjan Shrestha of Police in 58 kg final, Chandra Bahadur Rana Magar of APF recorded win over Shekhar Upreti of Central in 54 kg final, Nischal Man Shrestha of Police defeated Bharat Bohara of APF in 74 kg final, Saksham Karki of national team beat Anuj Pujari of Police in 80 kg final and Ramhari Mahat of Army overcame Durga Thapa of Police in 87 kg final to secure their places for the SAG.
Likewise, Gyani Chunara of the national team beat Renu Lama of Mid-western Region in women's 57 kg final by 15-2 and Nima Gurung of Police defeated Namrata Tuladhar of Army in women's 53 kg final by 19-11 to be picked up for the SAG.
National team player Ayesha Shakya, the gold medalist of the 11th SAG, Army's Yan Kumari Chaulagain, the silver medalist of the 11th SAG and Nepal Police Club's Rejina Karki had booked their tickets for the SAG on Monday.
Altogether 13 players, including eight men and five women, will take part in the SAG.
Meanwhile, the National Sports Council (NSC) on Tuesday informed that the closed-camp trainings for all sports disciplines, besides taekwondo, have already begun for the SAG. The closed-camp training of taekwondo will begin from Wednesday.
Nepal will take part in 23 disciplines in the SAG. Nepal will send only women's team for hockey, according to Nabin Upreti, the secretary of the 12th South Asian Games Preparation Committee of Nepal. However, he said that the men's team could take part in the event at their personal expense after getting permission from the NSC.
Nepal will take part in archery, athletics, badminton, basketball, boxing, football, handball, hockey, judo, kabaddi, kho-kho, shooting, squash, swimming, table tennis, taekwondo, lawn tennis, triathlon, volleyball, weightlifting, wrestling, wushu and cycling.
Altogether 386 players, including 191 men and 195 women, will participate in the event, according to Upreti.
