Hospital agrees to take action against the doctor

DHANGADI, Aug 29: Swostik Cardio and Multispeciality Hospital, Dhangadhi, has agreed to provide a compensation of Rs 2.2 million to the family of a patient who died during treatment.

Angel Lal Chaudhary, 56, a resident of Shivanagar, Ward No-10, Kanchanpur, Belauri Municipality, was admitted to Swostik Hospital on Saturday morning for surgery to remove a kidney stone.

Following the surgery, internal bleeding in the kidney led to persistent bleeding, prompting the doctor's decision to remove the kidney with the consent of the patient's relatives. Although the bleeding was believed to have ceased after the kidney removal, Chaudhary sadly passed away on Monday while receiving treatment on a ventilator.

After Chaudhary's death, the relatives protested against the hospital, demanding proper compensation and action against the doctor. They demanded that Rs 10 million should be given as compensation. An agreement was reached on Monday night for Rs 2.2 million.

According to the sources of the hospital, late at night, an agreement was reached between the victim’s family and the hospital for compensation of Rs 2.2 million. After receiving the compensation, the family received the mortal remains of Chaudhary.

The sources said that the hospital has provided checks of Rs 1 million and Rs 1.2 million for son's education and daughter's marriage.

Rajkumar, the nephew of the deceased, has confirmed that the hospital provided the check. He said that they received the dead body after agreeing to recommend action to Dr Johnesh Tiwari involved in the surgery.

The hospital has said that it will release the official opinion about the cause of Chaudhary's death through a statement.
