KATHMANDU, April 12: Nepali Congress leader Dr Shekhar Koirala has accused the government of being irresponsible on their part by suspending the governor of Nepal Rastra Bank (NRB) for not coordinating with the finance minister.
Speaking at a program organized in Kathmandu on Tuesday, Koirala said that the government has taken an irresponsible decision and asserted that the NRB can investigate any case where Rs 400 million of foreign currency is sent to Nepal.
Leader Koirala said that in most democracies, there is no coordination between the finance minister and the governor as the NRB is working to stop the wrongdoings of the finance ministry.

“In most democratic countries, the ministry of finance and governors do not coordinate well with each other because the central bank stops the wrongdoings of the finance ministry,” leader Koirala mentioned.
He accused the government of being irresponsible and suspending the governor for stopping the import of luxury goods, at a time when the country’s forex reserves are declining. Leader Koirala said that the government should answer the question as to why there is a need to import luxury goods, pepper, betel nuts, peas, and other items at a time when the country's economic situation is not very good.
Leader Koirala also asked the government the reasons behind the recent appointments of foreign ambassadors, stating that the appointments made were against the Constitution of Nepal.
Stating that Nepali Congress (NC) is a democratic party, he said that the party is not allowed to speak and act like the communist parties.
