KATHMANDU, Aug 30: Bail has been denied for Bobby Singh Shah, the suspect accused of killing Muna Pandey, a 21-year-old Nepali nursing student studying in Houston, USA. The decision was reported by international media.

Shah, a residence of Texas is charged with capital murder. He was scheduled to appear in probable cause court on Thursday afternoon but waived his appearance, according to a report by click2houston.

Muna Pandey's body was discovered on Monday around 5:45 PM in her bed with multiple gunshot wounds to her chest and a single gunshot wound to the back of her head, as stated by investigators.

Court documents reveal that Pandey's cell phone was missing from her apartment. When her number was called, it went straight to voicemail. One of her friends informed the police that Pandey's phone had been set to "Do Not Disturb."

According to media reports, on Tuesday at 8:40 PM, investigators reviewed footage showing Pandey and Shah approaching her apartment door. Pandey was seen holding a shoebox, a shopping bag, a black jacket, and a purse, while Shah held a black pistol. He repeatedly ordered her to open the door. In the video, Pandey could be heard asking, “What are you going to do?”

Shah then racked the slide of his pistol and instructed her to open the door again. After Pandey opened the door, Shah pushed her inside and locked the door behind them. An hour later, Shah was seen on camera leaving the apartment, apparently carrying the black purse that Pandey had held when they entered.

Following the release of security footage of the suspect on Wednesday, the owner of a restaurant where Pandey used to work contacted authorities, stating that another man recognized Shah as a frequent customer.

The man had been in touch with Shah about starting a business, according to records, and provided investigators with Shah’s Texas driver’s license and cell phone number. Another tip came from a woman who recognized Shah from a post on the "Grizzy’s Hood News" Facebook page.

The woman reported that she had met Shah on a "Sugar Daddy" website in 2012 and knew him as "Bobby Shah." She instantly identified him as the man in the surveillance footage.

Bobby Shah has been jailed several times before.
