“We had planned to send them on Sunday, but some technical details about the rehabilitation package are yet to be finalized. So the Special Committee meeting on Sunday will settle the issue and the surveyors will visit the cantonments on Monday,” said Special Committee secretariat member Dipak Prakash Bhatta. [break]
The Special Committee has already recruited 210 surveyors for the purpose.
According to secretariat members, Sindhuli, Rolpa and Ilam cantonments each will have 24 surveys, Surkhet 32, Nawalparasi 30 and Kailali and Shaktikhor each 38.
“They will take into account the identity cards issued by the UNMIN during the survey,” said Bhatta.
Three separate tents will be set up in each cantonment to house those opting for integration, those for rehabilitation and those for voluntary retirement.
Similarly, separate identity cards will be issued to those falling under three separate categories.
The Special Committee is also expected to fix the date for the formal inauguration of the integration process.
The Special Committee has not met for the last few days due to the absence of Prime Minister Baburam Bhattarai and some other committee members who were on a visit to the Maldives to attend the SAARC Summit.
