Vice-Chancellor of the Kathmandu University (KU) Dr. Suresh Raj Sharma inaugurated the conference oragnised under the coordination of the College of Medical Science, Bharatpur.
Speaking at the inaugural session, Sharma stressed on the need to make the health service qualitative and reliable, keeping the health sector in priority.
During the function, Dean of the University NB Rana, society chairman Dr. Bhola Raj Joshi, executive director of BP Koirala Memorial Cancer Hospital Dr. Bhakta Man Shrestha, college director Dr .V Natraj Prasad, Dr. Anjani Kumar Sharma and Dr. BN Patwari expressed their views.
The meeting would discuss the achievements of the health sector, developments in the surgery, problems and challenges seen in the surgery sector and the ways to their solution, according to coordinator of the organising committee Dr. Sujit Kumar.
The conference will conclude on Saturday.
It is said the objective of the conference is to promote the skills of surgeons. Over 250 surgeons including neuro surgeon Dr. Upendra Devkota and Dr. Bhagwan Koirala are taking part in the conference. The conference is also scheduled to elect a new working committee of the society.
