Sudurpaschim records highest death toll as coronavirus transmission spikes

DHANGADI, May 7: The coronavirus transmission rate has spiked in Sudurpaschim Province. A total of 17 people died from the virus in the Province on Thursday alone.

The Province recorded its highest death toll on Thursday. Similarly, 14 people died of the virus on May 3 in the Province. According to the Public Health Directorate, eight people from Kanchanpur, six from Kailali, and one each from Bhajang, Acham, and Darchula districts are among the dead.

Of 18,32 people who were tested on Thursday, 785 tested positive for COVID-19. So far, 9,315 people have been infected by the virus in the Province.

The first outbreak of COVID-19 in the Province was first reported on April 27, 2020, and the first death from the virus on May 31, 2020.

A total of 57 people had lost their lives during the first wave of the pandemic. So far, 162 people have died due to the virus in the Province.

The second wave of COVID-19 infection has claimed 105 lives.
