KATHMANDU, May 15: The hearing on the rape case involving cricketer Sandeep Lamichhane has concluded.
The proceedings, which commenced on Tuesday, continued through Wednesday.
Senior advocates Ram Narayan Bidari, Raman Shrestha, Shambu Thapa, Murari Sapkota, and Krishna Sapkota presented their arguments on behalf of cricketer Lamichhane, challenging the Kathmandu District Court's verdict that convicted him in a rape case.
Representatives for the girl, Gaushala-26, along with government advocates and others, also presented their case.
Initially, the Kathmandu District Court sentenced Sandeep to eight years of imprisonment for the alleged rape of Gaushala-26. Sandeep subsequently appealed against this verdict at the Patan High Court, where the hearing on the case was postponed five times.
With the conclusion of the hearing, a verdict on the case is anticipated shortly.
