DHANGADHI, March 28: Sudurpaschim province government has decided to set up a fund of Rs 400 million to prevent and contain the novel coronavirus across the province.

A cabinet meeting of the province government made the decision to establish the fund today, according to Interior and Justice Minister Prakash Bahadur Shah. "We urge one and all including organizations based in this province to contribute to the fund," the minister told a press conference here.

The decision comes a day after a 34-year-old man from Dhandgadhi tested positive for coronavirus. He is currently undergoing treatment at Seti Provincial Hospital. This is the fourth confirmed COVID-19 case in the country.

Likewise, the meeting decided to designate Seti Provincial Hospital as a dedicated hospital for treatment of coronavirus infected patients.

Various provincial-level ministries have been asked to stay alert during the lockdown period to address the grievances of the people.

"We would like to appeal the private hospitals to collaborate with the province government and local levels to prevent and contain the COVID-19," Minister Shah said.

The meeting has decided to provide relief package to the people below the poverty line and daily wage workers, according to him.

The province government is planning to establish a health laboratory at Seti Provincial Hospital to detect COVID-19 and health labs in Doti and Baitadi, the minister added.
