KATHMANDU, June 5: Nepali Congress President and Prime Minister Sher Bahadur Deuba has said that the government is committed to formulating a necessary action plan for the rapid development of Sudurpaschim Province. He said that Sudurpaschim Province has the potential to become the richest province in the country if human resource development and investment were protected.


Stating that an agreement has been reached with India to build a dry port across the Mahakali in Dodhara Chandani, Prime Minister Deuba expressed his confidence that it would also help in the development of the province. He said that the port would directly connect Sudurpaschim with Mumbai in India and would make a significant contribution to the development of the province.

Prime Minister Deuba said, "It has been agreed with the Indian government to build a dry port in Sudurpaschim Province. If there is a dry port across the Mahakali in Dodhara Chandani, Sudurpaschim Province will be directly connected to Mumbai, India. Goods can be brought directly from Mumbai. I am confident that this will help in the development of the province. The province has not developed due to geographical remoteness and lack of investment security.”


Prime Minister Deuba said that special attention should be paid to the development of the Mahakali River, West Seti Hydropower Project for the development of Sudurpaschim Province. He also urged all parties concerned to work hand in hand for the development of the province by emphasizing on human development.
