Stop granting affiliations hapazardly: PM Oli

POKHARA, July 2: Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli has urged universities to produce skilled human resources through education that is related to employment, production, and needs.

POKHARA, July 2: Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli has urged universities to produce skilled human resources through education that is related to employment, production, and needs.


"The universities should also come with policy, plans, and progress in tune with the national policy and plans, and thereby support the goal of prosperity," he said while addressing the 20th annual general meeting of Pokhara University today.

On the occasion, the Prime Minister also urged university office-bearers to stop granting affiliation to colleges in a haphazard manner. "Don't open colleges where it is profitable; take a decision on the basis of need assessment. Encourage technical education." Also, Chancellor of the University, Prime Minister Oli said hundreds of thousands of people are going abroad to cheap labor markets while the youth with education, skills, and efficiency are not being properly utilized.


 On the occasion, Minister for Education, Science and Technology and Co-chancellor Giriraj Mani Pokharel urged the universities to not go for unorganized production of human resources, and come up with policies based on the need for human resource and priority to technical education. A total of 32,000 students are studying under the University. Pokhara University targets to increase the number to 50,000 within the next two years.
