KATHMANDU, Jan 20: National Assembly member Hari Charan Shiwakoti on Monday urged the government to grant affiliations to private medical colleges including Manmohan Adhikari Memorial Medical College as soon as possible.

Speaking at the special hour of the National Assembly, Shiwakoti drew the attention of the government for not granting affiliations to those private colleges who have already had set up infrastructure and facilities as determined by the government.

"The government authorities are silent over granting affiliation to Manmohan Adhikari Memorial Medical College which has over 3600 shareholders. Likewise, the government has not granted affiliations to B&C College in Jhapa which has already established required infrastructures," he said.

The lawmaker said that the private medical colleges have not been granted affiliations although they have been paying huge taxes to the government.

"The private medical colleges should be given affiliations immediately if the government really wants to stop the increasing flow of Nepali students to foreign countries including Bangladesh, India, Pakistan and China to obtain medical degrees," he argued.
