Province level martial art festival kicked off

UDAYAPUR, Feb 22: The Province 1-level martial arts festival kicked off on Saturday at the Tiger Playground at local Katari Bazaar.


The festival organized by Katari Municipality will feature competitions in shiterio karate, taek-won-do and wushu departments. Martial art players of various battalions of the Nepal Army in the Province 1 will also participate in the competitions.

The players will be vying for 14 gold medals and 28 silver and bronze medals towards wushu, 12 gold and 24 silver and bronze medals towards taek-won-do and 12 gold medals and 24 silver and bronze medals towards wushu. Katari Municipality's Mayor Gyanendra Shrestha said the martial art festival has been organized to develop tourism in Katari through sports. According to the coordinator of the organizing committee Deepak Tamang, around 600 players from 14 districts of Province 1 are participating in the event.


The festival is slated to continue till February 29.
