Xavier defeated TIA College 2-1 in the quarterfinal match played at the Chyasal ground, Lalitpur. Dinesh Karki scored in the 21st minute of the match and gave the lead to TIA. However, Shreekrishna Khadka leveled the match in the 65th minute. Dikesh Khadgi scored the winner in the 78th minute to take Xavier into the semifinals. [break]
The tournament, organized by Bagmati Zonal Committee of All Nepal National Free Students Union, featured 73 colleges in the first round held last December. ANNFSU resumed the second round of the tournament from Tuesday.
Taekwondo, swimming teams off for foreign training
KATHMANDU, Jan 12: Sports authorities bade farewell to taekwondo and swimming teams on Tuesday before they left for training abroad as part of their preparation for the 11th South Asian Games (SAG) to be held in Dhaka from January 29 to February 9.
National Sports Council (NSC) Member Secretary Hari Babu Chaudhary bade farewell to the teams at the NSC Hall, Tripureshwar, amidst two separate functions.

The taekwondo team is scheduled to leave for Malaysian capital Kuala Lampur on Wednesday. The players in men´s section of the team are Kumar Manandhar (under-63 kg), Ashish Maharjan (under-67 kg), Dan Bahadur Aire (under-70 kg), Ramesh Kumar Shrestha (under-80 kg), Deepak Bista (under-87 kg) and Badrinath Basnet (above-80 kg). Likewise, female players in the team are Yan Kumari Chaulagain (under-46 kg), Sabina Maharjan (under-53 kg), Ayesha Shakya (under-57 kg) and Manita Shahi (under-63 kg).
Subash Chandra KC is the team coach while Dipendra Kumar Pokhrel is manager in the team. South Korean coach Kwon Hyouk Joung, who hasn´t yet arrived in Nepal, will directly reach Kuala Lampur, according to Nepal Taekwondo Association.
The team will reach Dhaka on February 4 after a three-week training. The taekwondo competitions will be held from February 6 to 8.
Meanwhile, a six-member swimming team left for Bangladesh´s capital Dhaka on Tuesday. The members of the team are Sailesh Rana and Prasiddha Jung Shah, Bibidha Rimal, Oshin Bharati and Nayana Shakya while Ishwar Karki is the team coach.

The remaining six members of the swimming team are scheduled to leave for Dhaka on Saturday. The swimmers in this list are Pushpa Raj Shahi, Babin Shensha Shrestha, Shaila Rana and Karishma Karki. The coach of the team is Shankar Karki and the manager is Ashok Bajracharya, general secretary of Nepal Swimming Association.
The swimming competitions will be held from February 5 to 8.
