SPORTS BRIEFS: Golden Gate enter Akhil Cup semis

KATHMANDU, Jan 16: Golden Gate College entered the semifinals of the ongoing Akhil Cup Valley-wide Football Tournament on Saturday.



Golden Gate thrashed Himalayan White House College 3-0 in the quarterfinal match played at the Chyasal Ground, Lalitpur. Nirajan Malla completed his hat-trick for the winners as he scored in the 15th, 63rd and 71st minutes of the match. [break]



Golden Gate will face Nepal Commerce Campus in the semifinal match while Xavier International College and Patan Multiple Campus will clash in the next. The semifinal matches of the tournament, organized by All Nepal Free Students´ Union, will take place at the Dasharath Stadium on January 22.





IT, Sky enter final



KATHMANDU, Jan 16: Information Technology and Sky Phone Department of Nepal Telecom entered the final of the T20 cricket organized on the occasion of the 6th anniversary of the organization.



IT defeated PSTN by 27 runs. IT , batting first, put up a total of 132 runs. Man-of-the-match Pradeep Khatiwada contributed 51 runs. In reply, PSTN could manage only 109 runs losing 5 wickets in the limited 18 overs.



Likewise, Namaste defeated Sky Phone by 14 runs. However, Sky entered the final as they were up in the league table with high net run rate. Similarly, ADSL team defeated PSTN team in the women´s volleyball competition.
