Joel Bartolli scored 35 points for the winners. Likewise, South Siders defeated NASA 91-81 as Rishi Robertson scored 39 points for the hosts. Likewise, Golden Gate and Whitehouse reached the final in women´s category.
Golden Gate eased past GAA 64-22 with Priti Tuladhar scoring 21 points for the winners, while Whitehouse booked a final berth beating Snow Leopards 35-22.
Kayastha wins rating chess
Madan Krishna Kayastha of Bhaktapur on Sunday clinched the title of the Man Bahadur Magar Memorial Rating Chess Tournament with 6.5 points in his kitty.
In the course of winning the title, Kayastha remained unbeaten in all seven rounds of the tournament. Kayastha shared points with Bikash Kuluju in the sixth round and defeated Harichandra Chaulagain in the last round. Along with the title, Kayastha bagged a purse of Rs 5,000.
Rukum´s Milan Rokka finished second with 5.5 points while veteran Lawa Kumar Shreshta of the hosts Himalayan Chess Club claimed the third spot. Rokka and Shrestha received Rs 3,000 and Rs 2,000, respectively.
Chaulagain, Nabin Tandukar, Bhawani Limbu and Bikash Kuluju finished fourth to seventh respectively. Chaulagain received a cash prize of Rs 1,500 while the other three were awarded Rs 1,000 each.
In the unrated section, Rajendra Kumar Parajuli secured the top spot with 5 points while Purna Kumar Khadka finished second with 4.5 points.
Gurung takes lead
Kamal Gurung took lead in the First Open Tara Running-shield Archery Championship on Day III on Sunday. Gurung from Bamboo Myagdi Association has accumulated a total score of seven points after adding 3 points on Sunday. Kumar Paija, who was on lead on Saturday, added only a point on Sunday. Paija from Myagdi Magar Association has a total of six points after the completion of Day III. Namobuddha Gurung Sewa Samiti at Sukedhara in Kathmandu is the organizer of the tournament.
NASA, VS Niketan win titles
NASA International and VS Niketan won the titles of girls and boys category respectively in the Second BST Inter-college Basketball Tournament on Sunday. NASA defeated Xavier International 31-19 in the final match played on the court of hosts BST College, Gongabu. Ronahi Limbu scored 12 points for the winners. In boys category, VS Niketan beat National 59-55 to lift the title. Bijay Burja scored 19 points for the winners and he was awarded with the most valuable player prize.
Far Western, Baluwatar win matches
Baluwatar Club and Far Western Cricket Development Club won their respective matches on Sunday in the ongoing Madan Bhandari Memorial T-20 Cricket Tournament. Baluwatar thrashed Boyz United Cricket Club by seven wickets at the TU Cricket Ground. Boyz United, batting first, put up 125/8 in allotted 20 overs. Prashanna Shakya scored unbeaten 46 runs while Amit Shrestha contributed 29 runs for the Boyz United. Nupur Pandey claimed three wickets for Baluwatar. In reply, Baluwatar met the target in 17.1 overs losing three wickets. Suman Uday scored 48 runs and Bijay Gautam added 27 runs. Meanwhile, Far Western defeated Yangal Club by four wickets. Yangal, batting first, made 156/5 in 20 overs. Abhay Paudel scored unbeaten 48 runs while Rajesh Pulami added 23 runs. In reply, Far Western met the target in 18.1 overs losing six wickets. Pradeep Airee scored unbeaten 58 runs while Naresh Budhayer added 30 runs.
