SPORTS BRIEFS: Devkota, Star win in HISSAN Sports Week

BIRATNAGAR, Dec 22: Devkota and Star College won their respective football matches in the ongoing HISSAN Sports Week organized by Higher Secondary Schools´ Association of Nepal, Morang branch. In T20 cricket, City and Lord Buddha College emerged victorious. [break]



With a brace from Gagan Mudbhari, Devkota saw off Birat College 3-2. Binod Majhi added another. Rivas Karki and Debendra Chaudhary scored one each for Birat.







In another match, Star beat Siddhartha College 4-3 in tiebreaker. The match took the turn to tiebreaker after regular time and added time ended in a 1-1 stalemate.



In cricket, City defeated Koshi College by 39 runs and Lord Buddha enjoyed walkout from Siddhartha College as the latter left the field in 16.2 overs being dissatisfied with the referee´s decision. Opting to bat first, Siddhartha had made 111 runs losing nine wickets.





Fishtail´s winning run continues



KATHMANDU, Dec 22: Fishtail Academy, Pokhara, continued with their cent percent record to climb atop the standings with 14 points on Tuesday in the ongoing Fourth Dhorpatan Blue Sky Cup Women´s Double League Volleyball Tournament being held at New Bus Park.



Fishtail had a hard fought 25-18, 25-27, 25-21, 13-25, 25-10 victory over title holders Gyanu Baba Academy. They won all seven matches played.



The match stopped on Monday due to bad light was played from beginning on Tuesday. On Monday, Gyanu Baba were ahead two sets to nil. Gyanu Baba have accumulated 11 points with five wins and a loss out of six matches played to remain in third place.



In another match, Fishtail edged past New Diamond 21-25, 25-5, 25-7, 25-17.



Likewise, Nepal Police Club (NPC) thrashed PLA Sports Club 25-22, 25-14, 25-22 in straight sets. Police have added 12 points from seven matches to occupy second position.



Angel Heart defeated Deep Jyoti 25-15, 25-9, 25-11 in straight sets. Angel Heart are jointly in third spot with 11 points out of seven matches played with four victories and three losses.
