Lawmakers, during the meeting of the Legislature-Parliament today, voiced objections against the police action in the protest.
Speaking at the meeting, UCPN (Maoist) lawmaker Agni Sapkota condemned the police intervention in a ‘peaceful’ demonstration.
“Now, can’t a Dalit ask for rights?” he questioned, “Action should be taken against those intervening in peaceful protest.”
Police had intervened in the protest held by Dalit Struggle Committee in Anamnagar in the capital from 10 am to 11 pm today.
According to lawmaker Sapkota, some lawmakers too sustained injuries in the clash.
Also speaking Nepali Congress (NC) lawmaker Deepak Giri demanded investigation into the incident, while UML lawmaker Bhanu Bhakta expressed objection on the behalf of the UML Parliamentary Party.
Likewise, CPN-ML lawmaker Ayendra Sundar Nembang, Chitra Bahadur KC of Rastriya Janamorcha, NC’s Min Bishwokarma, UML’s Jitu Gautam demanded that Minister for Home Affairs Gautam answer the House with an apology.
