Talking to Republica, Jha said that he quit the Mahato’s party as it was engaged in cast-based politics. “I have been victimized by the SP on the ground that I am a Brahmin,” claimed Jha, accusing the SP of being biased towards the so called ‘upper Tarai castes’. [break]
He further revealed that Chairman Mahato has given tickets to those who are millionaires. “The leaders having sound economic status have only been selected as candidate by the SP,” claimed Jha. He insisted that the SP has informally reached a seat adjustment with Ram Krishna Yadav, a candidate of Nepali congress (NC) for constituency-2 of Dhanusha.
“Mahato has assured Yadav of his victory,” said Jha, “On the other hand, the NC candidate Yadav will support SP Vice Chairman Sanjay Sah at constituency-4.” He further claimed that a day would come when the Mahato’s party would be vacant.
Jha will contest the poll from constituency-2 of Dhanusha, representing NSP. “The party Chairperson Giri has assured me that she will offer me the post of General Secretary.” He went on to claim that the voters in his constituency have assured him of victory.
Refuting the allegations of Jha, SP Joint General Secretary Arjun Upreti said, “The accusations made by Jha are baseless.” He added that the candidate selection process was accomplished by the decision of office bearers. “Our party is working for the cause of Madhes,” said Upreti, adding, “The SP does not believe in caste-based politics.”
Upreti further said that they have picked candidates on the basis of their influence and contribution in the constituencies. “There are some leaders in Madhes, who are power-hungry and the same case is with Mr Jha.
