Laxman Singh Khadka, 69, is originally from Dhungeadda, Kathmandu. He claims to be the ‘khalasi’ (conductor) of Nepal. He believes in the ideologies of Prithvi Narayan Shah, and that he is here to steer the nation toward the right direction. He says that he will personally punish those who wrong the nation by any means. Khadka has painted various statues of martyrs, kings and other personalities across Kathmandu, and from time-to-time honors them with khadas (shawls). Asked why he does this, he says, “There is no greater pleasure than serving your country.” Khadka adds he will continue his service throughout his life.
