Artist Bidhata KC has held seven solo exhibitions and is also the recipient of the Master Tej Bahadur Chitrakar Smriti Puraskar in 2013 for her painting. In 2011, she was honored with a ‘Special Mention Award’ at the National Fine Art Exhibition. She was also honored by Arniko National Youth Art Award, a National Government Award for excellence in Modern Art. Here she talks about her city experiences with My City:
Favorite City and the reason
Despite everyday obstacle my favorite city is Kathmandu. A lot of memories are attached to the city.
Do you remember it?
Things you like about the current city you are living in
I like my city’s culture because it has always fascinated me. The fact that our culture has bound people together and also brought people from different places together, making the place lively and livable.
A city in the world that you would like to visit
There are many cities that I would like to visit. In Nepal, I want to revisit Lomonthan and outside Nepal, Rome is on my priority list.
Craziest thing you’ve done in a city
The craziest thing I have done is create a replica of Machindranath with modern industrial materials to show the link between traditions and the situation of the city today, and install it on a three-floor building.
Things you dislike about city life
Air pollution— this has become horrible every day.
