Attachment

They say, “Have a mind which is open to everything and attached to nothing.” I wish I knew this earlier before being attached to the people and things around me.


‘Attachment’ is the most beautiful, painful and dangerous word I have in my dictionary. In this world of scientific advancement and technological development, it is not a strange thing if I say I am most attached to the person I have rarely spent a week together. Because of being so much attached with this person, I get hurt with a slight change in his behavior and attitude. I worry for no reason if I don’t see him online as frequently as always. But the best thing is I have known him so deeply that I can guess his mood seeing his texts. I feel I’ve known him since eternity. He often says now, “It’s not necessary to talk daily. Such attachment is not good. If you are not losing friends, you are not growing up. Make some friends except me too.

Life is uncertain. You have to stay well without me as well.” I know nothing is permanent so I just spend this time with him with my full heart so that I will not have to resent about it in the future. Live in the present. Live to the fullest. Past is the experience. Present is the experiment. Future is our result. Use your experience to do the experiment so you can enjoy your fruitful result. Try not to confuse attachment with love.


Attachment is about fear and dependency and has more to do with love of self than love of another. Love without attachment is the purest love because it isn’t about what others can give you because you are empty. But it is about what you can give to others because you are already full. I’m practicing non-attachment skills now. Accepting what comes and allowing it to leave when it’s time. What’s for me will be for me effortlessly. Attachments seem only good for emails now, not for real. I say train yourself to let go of everything you fear to lose. Never let your feelings get too deep; people can change at any moment.


In conclusion, don’t get too much attached to anyone because attachment leads to expectation and expectation is another name for disappointment and pain but don’t fear to open yourself up to new people. Make quality friends every day. Miracles do happen every day. Believe in yourself.


Trust your instincts. Have guts to face everything that comes on your way. Know people and their attitude before exposing your soul and heart. Don’t let the past control you. Learn from your mistakes and move on. If you are going to give some pieces of yourself to someone else, first make sure you are okay without those pieces and you can move on in your life without them. The less attached you are, the more peaceful you become.
