JUMLA, Jan 27: The farmers of Jumla are happy as the place has witnessed snowfall for two consecutive days. Farmers are happy because the snowfall is good for the winter crops and apple plants.
Ganesh Adhikari, head of Agriculture Development Office, Jumla, said that the winter snowfall has benefited the farmers who were dependent on rainwater for their crops.
Locals say that due to the snowfall, it is easy to plant wheat, barley and new apple plants which was difficult earlier due to the lack of timely rainfall.
Due to the lack of timely rain, the farmers were worried because their crops such as wheat, barley and unseasonal vegetables were drying up.
However, due to the heavy snowfall in Jumla and Upper Karnali, air services were suspended and passengers suffered.
According to the Civil Aviation Authority of Nepal (CAAN) office in Jumla, after the Nepali army, police and armed forces removed the snow from the Jumla airport on Thursday morning, the air services have resumed.
According to the Climate Field Office Jumla, about two to three feet of snow has fallen in the higher parts of the district.
