The hectic schedule of professionals makes time management a huge hindrance. Moreover, the fast-paced lifestyle has impacted fundamental chores, including laundry – a personal hygiene essential. To address the ongoing problem, entrepreneurs Bikash Subedi, Nikunj Bhandari and Richa Bhandari came up with a business venture of providing laundry services. As a result, Nepali Dhobi Pvt Ltd was formed after an intensive research of feasibility, potentials, and serviceability on March 29. 

The trio hails from different academic backgrounds which allowed research to be conducted in par with their individual educational approach. In the end, the three agreed to a point that laundry was among the biggest problem for the people and gained the much-needed confidence to initiate their business. At present, Nepali Dhobi operates from Gairidhara, with their washing center at Bouddha. 

What makes them different from the contemporary laundry companies is their website. Through their online service, the people can place order per their necessity. The company charges an additional delivery and pick up charge of Rs 25 for loads less than 4 kilos.  Speaking about their serviceability, co-founder Bikash Subedi stated, “Depending on distance and traffic it takes 15 to 20 minutes to complete the order.” 

After receiving the order, each load is labeled with a unique tag. Clothes are then dispatched to the cleaning center collectively at the end of each work day, whereas, the cleaned clothes are brought to the office and distributed according to the details mentioned in their tags.

The venture has also partnered with three hospitals and four hotels where they provide services in four main categories -- wash and fold, wash and iron, premium laundry, and dry cleaning. The costs of wash and fold, wash, and iron, premium laundry are 120, 150 and 180 per kg. However, at present, the company is operating per the scheme introduced citing the current football gala where the prices are dropped down to Rs 99, 130 and 150 respectively. The cost of dry cleaning depends on the design and the intricacy of the material. 

Explaining the challenges the company has had to face, Subedi said, “Making people aware about our work was our first challenge, and assuring people that their clothes would not damage was our second. With the flow of time, everything is going great and now we are also getting positive feedback from the customers.” He also spoke about external problems saying, “The annoying traffic and bumpy roads are our biggest fear. We have had to also postpone some orders due to the unfavorable weather conditions.”
