Addressing a press meet on Saturday, Palangwa said, “The home minister lied to us. Even after a week of our talks, no revised list has been published yet.” He claimed that the government was hatching conspiracy against the SLRP by including its name in the original list. He also claimed that the government had introduced the Special Security Plan with the intent to suppress certain political parties and organizations.
On the issue of state restructuring, Palangwa maintained that in the present context the country could not be divided along ethnic lines. “We have not sought division of the country along ethnic lines. However, the history of ethnic groups must be respected and enshrined in the new republican set up.”
In addition, he called upon the government to implement the 5-point understanding reached between the armed groups and the then government on April 8, 2008.
