SLRP launches poll campaign

By
BHADRAPUR, Sept. 11: The Sanghiya Limbuwan Rajya Parishad has announced a campaign focusing on the forthcoming Constituent Assembly elections slated for November 19.

Addressing a news conference organized to announce the launching of the election campaign at Birtamod, Jhapa district on Tuesday, party president Sanjuhang Palungwa said that his party would take part in the election by entering into an alliance with parties such as the Unified CPN (Maoist) that advocate for identity-based federalism. He disclosed that the party has adopted the tactics of fielding candidacies in two-thirds of the total election constituencies for declaring the nine districts of the eastern region as the Limbuwan Autonomous State.

Palungwa said that since the election was the basic condition, it should be held on the stipulated date at any cost. He warned of an insurrection if a new constitution was not formulated as per the letter and spirit of the Interim Constitution.

SLRP has also constituted an election mobilization committee under the chairmanship of party president Palungwa.
