Six malaria cases recorded in Chitwan

The cases were detected among the patients visiting different health care facilities in Chitwan during the first two months of the current fiscal year.

CHITWAN, Sept 23: Six cases of malaria were detected in Chitwan district in the past two months. The cases were detected among the patients visiting different health care facilities in Chitwan during the first two months of the current fiscal year. 



According to the District Public Health Office, Chitwan, three cases were seen in Bharatpur Metropolitan City, two others in Khairahani Municipality, and one in Rapti Municipality.


Chief of the Office Dinesh Rupakheti said the cases were from the age group of 34-44 years.

Rupakheti added that the infection was seen in people who returned from foreign employment and other districts within the country. Four infected people are India returnees, one South Korea returnee and the next one was working in Sunsari district, Rupakehti stated. 


Ten malaria cases were reported in the district in the last fiscal year.   


Malaria is mostly transmitted to people from the bites of infected female Anopheles mosquitoes.


Fever, headache, vomiting and tiredness are the key symptoms of malaria. The officials said that it was necessary to keep the surroundings clean and sleep under mosquito nets to be protected from mosquito bites.
