Six injured in Sunsari clash

ITAHARI, Oct. 1: Tension ran high at Debangunj Secondary School in Sunsari Friday following a dispute over the appointment of teachers.



According to District Police Office, Sunsari, six people, including teacher Bauwa Lal Mehata, were injured when two sides clashed over the issue that snowballed after different views came from the chairman of school management committee and school principal over teachers´ appointment. [break]



Police said a meeting held to settled to appointment row ended without any conclusion and the both sides came to blows on the school premises.



While principal Mehata stuck to appointing temporary teachers Ram Sagar Thakur, Ranju Devi Mehata and Punam Mehata as permanent teachers following the District Education Office´s approval, management committee chief Jugnarayan Mehata opposed the decision, sowing a seed of clash.
