Clash in Sunsari leads to police firing six aerial shots, curfew clamped

ITAHARI, April 5: A clash between two groups in Bhutaha, Sunsari, escalated, prompting the police to fire six rounds into the air.


The incident which occurred in  Harinagar Rural Municipality-1, Bhutaha, following the assault of a young man escalated the tension leading the police to lob 11 rounds of tear gas shells to control the situation.

According to DSP Nabin Krishna Bhandari of the District Police Office, Sunsari, the local administration has issued a curfew from noon today to 7 AM tomorrow.


SP Deepak Sigdel of Koshi Province Police confirmed that six rounds of aerial fire were fired while controlling the clash between the two groups.


According to SP Sigdel, four people were slightly injured in the clash between the two groups. The injured have been brought to Biratnagar for treatment. Tensions between the involved groups persist, according to the source.
