KATHMANDU, Aug 24: The 12-hour curfew imposed in Mahendranagar from Thursday evening has been lifted. The District Security Committee lifted the curfew at 6 AM today. A curfew was clamped from 5 PM yesterday.

The curfew was imposed after the clash between protesters, who have been pressuring the police to nab the real culprit behind the murderer of Nirmala Panta, and police turned violent. Locals have been protesting for a few days claiming the police have framed and arrested mentally-disabled Dilip Singh Bista over the rape and murder of Nirmala Panta.
