Six including former nat’l footballer KC held on IPL betting charges

KATHMANDU, May 29: Police have arrested six people for their involving in the Indian Premier League (IPL) betting from the capital.


A police team deployed from the Metropolitan Police Range Office, Kathmandu arrested six people including former national footballer Anjan KC and made them public.


Those arrested include Gaurab Tiwari, Bijaya Shrestha, Dinesh Bogati, Nagendra Suwal, Bhupendra Kuwar. They used to take the win and loss of the IPL as a gambling. According to police, the betting group had carried out a transaction of over Rs 700 million in the gambling. Earlier, KC had been arrested on the charge of match-fixing.

The gamblers used to share the stakes on every Monday from various hotels based in Sohrakhutte, Lalitpur, Bhaktapur.


The stake that they put in the betting ranged from Rs 25,000 to 1.5 million.


Gangster Dawa Lama was the main kingpin behind the betting.
