Six gamblers held with Rs 250,000 in Morang

MORANG, Oct 10: Police on Friday evening arrested six gamblers from a house at Belabari Municipality-4, Garjuram Tole, in the district


The gamblers were caught red-handed from the house of local Ashok Rai, said Morang police chief, Superintendent of Police (SP), Santosh Khadka.

The police recovered Rs 253,235 from the gambling den along with a set of cowries, 3 decks of cards and three vehicles (a jeep, a bike and a scooter).


The gamblers include ‘famed’ politicians and social leaders from Dhanusha, Sunsari, Jhapa and Morang districts


The arrestees have been identified as Sujaya Gautam, 56, and Chandra Limbu, 52, from Belbari-11, Rit Gurung, 40, from Belbari-3, Parshuram Bhujel, 50, from Charnath Ganeshman-8, Dhanusha, Dharmendra Rai, 32, from Damak-5, Jhapa and 47-year-old Pradip Tamang of Itahari-1, Sunsari.


Action will be taken against them as per the Gambling Act 1963, according to Morang Police.
