POKHARA, May 26: Music Training Center Pokhara has honoured renowned Singer Mira Rana and music composer Prof Dr Dhrubesh Chandra Regmi with the Lal Bahadur Chandeshwari Dhevaju Memorial Music Award 2078 BS.
Rana was honored for her significant contribution to the Nepali music industry, while Prof Dr Dhrubesh Chandra Regmi was honoured for his noteworthy contribution to classical music amidst an event on Saturday.
Living legacy
The Lal Bahadur Chandeshwari Memorial Music Award presentation ceremony was organized by the Bindhabasini Religious Area Development Committee on Saturday morning. Saraswati Shrestha and Bijaya Mall, the founders of the award, presented certificates and cash prizes, while the President of the training centre Gautam Bijukchhe, along with the coordinator and advisor of the selection committee, Tirtha Shrestha, honored and felicitated the recipients.
Coordinator of the selection committee, Tirtha Shrestha, mentioned that the Music Training Center, established in 2046 BS, not only imparts education but also makes continuous contributions to the music sector. He emphasized the significance of honoring creators and encouraging the new generation, which led to the establishment of awards by the institution. The discussion also revolved around the familial contribution of the founding chairman to the institution's establishment.
Prominent figures in the Nepali music, including the late Ammar Gurung, Deep Shrestha, late singer Saroj Gopal Bajracharya, late Dhan Bahadur Gayak, Kalyan Sherchan, Baba Rana, Amrit Gurung, Ram Bhakta Jojiju, music composer Ranjit Gazmer, and actress Mithila Sharma were earlier honored with this award. At present, the award carries a cash prize of Rs 100,000, along with a certificate of honor.
