Singapore now holds world's most powerful passport; Nepal stays at 98th

KATHMANDU, July 26: Singapore has emerged as the country with the most powerful passport in the world. Singapore has surpassed France to become the country with the most powerful passport in the world, according to the Passport Index 2024 rankings. Singaporean citizens can now travel to 195 countries around the world without needing a visa in advance.

Earlier, France was the country with the world's most powerful passport announced by the Henley Passport Index last January. According to the report, France has now become the country with the second most powerful passport in the world while French citizens can travel to 192 countries of the world without a visa.

Along with France, Germany, Italy, Japan and Spain also hold second position in the report. Citizens of these countries can also visit 192 countries of the world without a visa.

Likewise, Nepal’s position has improved in the latest report. Nepal, which was ranked at the 103rd position in last January's report, has now been ranked at the 98th position. Nepali citizens can now visit 39 countries without a visa.

Afghanistan is currently ranked as one of the weakest countries in the world in terms of passports, holding the 103rd position. Afghan citizens can travel to 26 countries without a visa.

Similarly, the United States holds the 8th position, while India is ranked at the 82nd position.
